it was just simply great value for money, and the hotel is so cool, loved it to bits
no nothing i did not like
I liked the location of the hotel and the shuttle service provided. The facilities were quite good.
I wish there were more computers for guests.
Pleasant, professional staff at reception and friendly staff who were responsible for room service. Conveniently situated for our holiday needs. Fair value fro money.
The hotel is ideally situated,a short walk to very good restaurants and down to the sea front.
It can be a bit noisy, guests waking you up in the early hours and if you are at the rear of the hotel seagulls keep you awake.
Close proximity to the Promenade for a walk. Dstv tv - lovely linen but towels could have been changed as shower leaked over the bath and had to use hand towels to mop up water.
Only one lift
I think the park clean is not clean. It gives a wrong impression of the hotel,it needs to be clean at all times.
Good value for money. Good position and staff very friendly and helpful
Rooms are outdated especially bathrooms. Bath + basin drain stinks. Room 606. Check it out
using the telephone in the room is the equivalent of being robbed at gun point: was charged more than R 500 !!for a 10 minute phone call to the UK, a 10 min call to the same number in the Protea Fire and Ice in Joburg was only charged R 30. Nowhere in the room are the charges for telephone displayed, they are effectively operating a scam.
The friendliness of the staff , and the fact that we were recognised on our honeymoon with flowers and champagne was great. The hotel was also very nice , with a very comfortable stay. I will definately stay at Protea again.
Although we were on our honeymoon and this was stated in the booking , we were not welcomed by the treats that the hotel offers. There were also people who has welcome cards displayed at the front of the hotel and there was nothing displayed for us. I also had to ask about the special honeymoon treats as I was told that the hotel offers this when I did my booking. The card was also addressed to us with the wronf surname , that was my maiden surname , but none the less the thought was fantastic and very special.
The ability of all staff to attend to our needs the best way they could.
The initial room allocated to us was very tardy and 1 star. Not worth a rand. The inflexibility of telephone sales to accommodate our needs until we get to the hotel needs attention. Also, the fact that despite all the to and fro correspondence, the requested room was not available and did not have the cot requested for the baby. We then had to wait an hour in the lobby. Not acceptable.
The location of the hotel was oustanding.
We had to continously phone for towels. One night at 6.30 there was no towels put out. We had to phone to ask for towels. In one instance the towel was so old it had torn, and strands of cotton was coming off the towel. We requested rooibos tea form the lady cleaning our room. She replied that there was none available. On phoning reception a moment later the rooibos tea was sent up? After I complained to the front end manager, the staff never stopped coming up to applogize. We where phoned one night at 22.49 for another appology. It makes one think that there was no supervision, as had a manager approach us and spoken to us on behalf of the staff we would not have had numerous appologies from individuals. At this stage I am still toying with the idea of contacting Arthur Gillis, as I was not happy with the service, as well as the way my complaint was handed, as there was no management involved.
The housekeeping did not make our room despite us being at the 2 Oceans Marathon when we got back to the room after 10 am it was still not made up. However on the Sunday they woke us up at 07:30am to make up our room....and they then took forever to do it.
We enjoyed the relaxed atmospher and the location, it was enjoyable to walk along the sea promenade into the waterfront. The roof tope sun area was also enjoyable.
The fitness room was dangerous the equipment was not maintained to an acceptable standard which was a disappointment to us being an active couple.
The staff were friendly and the pillows were to die for
I stay in hotels all around the world and your establishment was fine. I struggled to see the mountain though
Location was convenient
They cancelled my booking the morning I arrived without my consent and I have confirmed the reservation 4 times. The cleaning staff is noisy and it sounds like a shebeen once they start cleaning. Cleaning lady used our toilet:-((( Offered me "free" parking for my inconvenience, but still charged it when I checked out. Had to switch rooms mid-stay cause they bothed up the reservation.
